Aotearoa NZ Anaesthesia ASM (NZ ASM) keynote speaker Professor BobbieJean Sweitzer, host Dr Morgan Edwards and NZ ASM Convenor Dr Karen Park kōrero about the role of anaesthesia in perioperative medicine, the role of AI in medical publishing, finding balance, and what they’re looking forward to at this year’s meeting.
Dual trained and boarded in anaesthesiology and internal medicine Prof Sweitzer is Systems Director, Preoperative Medicine at Inova Health Virginia and Professor of Medical Education at the University of Virginia. She has held numerous governance, author and editing positions and her experience includes more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts.

Dr Bex Parkes is a Clinical Psychologist who specialises in working with complex trauma presentations. In this episode, Bex helps us to further understand what trauma informed care means and offers some strategies to assist clinicians in identifying and helping patients who may be affected by previous trauma.
